Dispite problems with my Facebook page since the update I managed to come across this fab website for interiors – Eclectic Interiors. It seems to be a real home grown affair run by Selina Gettins where she restores, paints and renovates antique furniture – a real Irish Cottage Industry!
Nothing says cottage quite like a wrought iron bed (shown above) – think of the Quiet Man where Sean throws Mary Kate onto the bed. It really is an iconic piece of Irish cottage furniture.
I found this gorgeous dresser on the site that would be perfect for any Irish Cottage interior!
All of the pieces are antiques and one of a kind – just the kind of vibe you want in your pre-loved cottage. Their website is www.eclecticinteriors.net and you can call Selina on 087 6827348.
I love Eclectic Interiors too and live only 5 miles from Castlecomer, Seline does great stuff with her paintbrush 🙂
What a lovely blog! I have followed the link from the Jumbletown site. My husband and I live in an old farmhouse/cottage and although I found it wildly romantic when we first moved here 16 years ago – I am now feeling a bit hemmed in raising a large family in one (with so little storage) but hubby reminds me, the eldest kiddies will be leaving soon – and we will have it all to ourselves once again. x
Hi there Motherdear! I had a peep at your blog – fab photo of the kids walking in the country – West Cork must be a lovely part of the world to have a cottage. I lived in East Cork for a good while and its all beautiful. I’m planning a bit of an Irish Cottage Tour of Ireland and no doubt I’ll be down around your part of the country sometime over the next few months – any pointers would be great! Thanks for the comment. Orla

Where can I find an old dresser in need of repair either in Donegal or Carlow
Hi Margaret, apologies for the delay with this reply – I’ve moved houses and don’t have any internet access at the moment – have to run into coffee shops to email! The best way to find old furniture is on the likes of websites like Jumbletown, Gumtree or Done Deal. Another good option is to look into furniture auctions, though competition can be fierce there. You could also try putting up an ad in the local papers or notice boards, scouting second hand furniture stores and charity shops like the St. Vincent De Paul as they get a lot of… Read more »
